DAPP Dowa TTC donates clothes to orphanages
DAPP Malawi through one of it’s Teacher training colleges known as DAPP Dowa Teachers Training College (TTC) aims at not only equipping youth to become teachers for rural government primary schools, but also equips vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) who reside in areas surrounding the TTC with skills and knowledge in tailoring through a four months tailoring course. Through the course, adolescent girls and young women are taught how to produce eight various items before they graduate from the institution with a certificate. The items produced are mostly kept on displays.
From the 11 - 12 July, DAPP Dowa TTC donated clothes sown by its graduated tailoring students under the four months project held at the TTC known as Satellite to two orphanages in the district namely Hope Grace Alliance Orphanage and When the saints orphanage.
The orphanages which care for children who are between the ages of six months to 25 years old were grateful for the donation and said they will work hard in their education so that they can also go to college and learn various skills.
Mr Paul Mtenje, Social worker for Circle of Hope Grace Alliance said as an institution and organization, they are thankful for the donation and do not take it lightly.
Through its four TTC’s namely Amalika, Chilangoma, Dowa and Mzimba, DAPP Malawi with funding from Sympany Netherlands is training vulnerable adolescent girls and young women in tailoring skills and knowledge through the four months course known as Satellite and plans on equipping 720 adolescent girls and young women in these skills by 2020
