Farmers’ Clubs Dowa Phase II

The project was designed to contribute to reduction of poverty and increase equality between women and men. It was a continuation of the Farmers Club project that sustained the activities implemented in phase one. Working with 4250 women farmers in Dowa district, I the project established 15 new clubs of 50 small scale women farmers (750 farmers) in 2016, with 10 percent of the new farmers being women with disabilities.
The project adopted the business approach that facilitated the farmers to advance farming as a business. through value chain development and marketing of farmer produce.
This project was a continuation of the DAPP Dowa Women Farmers’ Club Project that was implemented in the period 2012-2014. The project’s life span was up to December 2017 with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Finland and UFF Finland. It has started in 2013 with 3500 farmers who worked in cooperatives
